What Do Republicans Really Think Of Palin?

4 09 2008

Ah yes, what do they say behind closed doors or before they’ve been told to shut up and tow the party line? (I’m looking at you Buchanan)

And here’s one where conservative pundits are caught talking frankly on open mics during a commercial break.

(* rough transcript below)

So is it really just the Democrats and liberals who are aware that she has no experience and that her selection for VP is an example of McCain’s poor judgment?  I know that there will be some who will remain unconvinced because they know reality has a liberal bias and should be suppressed at all costs.  I however continue to hope that there are more than a few contemplative and thoughtful Republicans who will be honest and express their genuine concerns that this sort of leadership would take America.

* Chuck Todd: Mike Murphy, lots of free advice, we’ll see if Steve Schmidt and the boys were watching. We’ll find out on your blackberry. Tonight voters will get their chance to hear from Sarah Palin and she will get the chance to show voters she’s the right woman for the job Up next, one man who’s already convinced and he’ll us why Gov. Jon Huntsman.(cut away)

Peggy Noonan: Yeah.

Mike Murphy: You know, because I come out of the blue swing state governor world: Engler, Whitman, Tommy Thompson, Mitt Romney, Jeb Bush. I mean, these guys — this is how you win a Texas race, just run it up. And it’s not gonna work. And —

PN: It’s over.

MM: Still McCain can give a version of the Lieberman speech to do himself some good.

CT: I also think the Palin pick is insulting to Kay Bailey Hutchinson, too.

PN: Saw Kay this morning.

CT: Yeah, she’s never looked comfortable about this —

MM: They’re all bummed out.

CT: Yeah, I mean is she really the most qualified woman they could have turned to?

PN: The most qualified? No! I think they went for this — excuse me– political bullshit about narratives —

CT: Yeah they went to a narrative.

MM: I totally agree.

PN: Every time the Republicans do that, because that’s not where they live and it’s not what they’re good at, they blow it.

MM: You know what’s really the worst thing about it? The greatness of McCain is no cynicism, and this is cynical.

CT: This is cynical, and as you called it, gimmicky.

MM: Yeah.

Sad that no right wingers commented on this juicy bit of evidence of what the GOP REALLY thinks about the Palin pick….but if it’s hypocrisy you want, it’s hypocrisy you get in big heaping piles of moose shit….

Three asshats and two pundits do not a GOP make.Pat Buchanan is so far away from reality that he doesn’t speak for very many Republicans. He is, of course, like you, entitled to his ludricous, idiotic, screwball opinion . . . 🙂

Best,
Chuck

@Chuck….oh, please….every politician in the GOP is talking about this. Whatever, we’ll see in November. See you at the polls Chuck. Good luck, because the Republicans are already gearing up Mitt Romney for 2012. 🙂

Chuck, these just happen to be a few of the Republicans caught on tape saying this stuff. The further insult for you should be that these guys are the professional high level water carriers for the GOP reasonably indicating that they’re pretty representative of a large percentage of Republicans when they’re really being honest and not just selling Kool-Aid.

The funny part about Buchanan is his early opinion was likely his REAL opinion and the latter opinion was the opinion he was TOLD to have to sell this toxic tonic to the public. You bought it. You bought it, you drank it, you had seconds, and then you bought more to share with me and everyone else who will listen to you. I’m sorry to be the one to tell you but you have been played for a fool. Of course on the flip side it galls me to think I agree with Pat Buchanan on anything but on this one thing I fear he was absolutely correct.
